Privacy Policy

YouRateStreams ("we", "us", "the service") lets you rate and review publicly available livestream recordings from YouTube, Twitch, and Kick. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Information we collect

Account info. When you sign in with Google, Twitch, or Discord, we receive your email address and a unique user ID from that provider; we never see your password for those services. If you create an account with an email and password instead, the password is stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider (Supabase) — we never see or store it in plain text.
Your activity. The ratings (1–10) and written reviews you submit, the username you choose, and your Higher/Lower game scores, all associated with your user ID.
Feedback. Messages and stream requests you send us through the feedback form, plus your email address if you choose to include it.
Usage data. We record how the site is used — for example pages viewed, games played, ratings submitted, and share or sign-in clicks — together with a random device ID and session ID stored in your browser, the page you came from (referrer), and any campaign tags in the link you followed (UTM parameters). If you are signed in, these events are linked to your user ID. This data is collected by us directly (first-party); we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
Error reports. When something breaks, technical details about the error (such as the page, browser, and stack trace) are sent to our error-monitoring provider so we can fix it.
Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, request time, user agent) generated by our hosting providers for security and debugging.

How we use it

To attribute your ratings and reviews to your account.
To operate, secure, and improve the service.
To compute aggregate (anonymous) statistics like average ratings.
To understand how people find and use the site (for example, which features are used and which links bring visitors) so we can improve it.
To diagnose and fix bugs and outages.
To respond to feedback and stream requests.

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

What other people can see

Your ratings and written reviews are shown publicly on each stream's page, and your username and best streak appear on the public game leaderboard. Your email address is never shown to other users.

Third-party services

We rely on these processors to run the service:

Supabase — database and authentication.
Google, Twitch, Discord — sign-in providers.
Fly.io — backend hosting.
Vercel — frontend hosting.
Sentry — error monitoring.

Stream thumbnails and embedded players are served directly by YouTube, Twitch, and Kick and are subject to their own privacy policies.

YouRateStreams uses YouTube API Services to look up and display YouTube videos. By using the service you are also agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and YouTube data is handled under the Google Privacy Policy. We do not access your YouTube or Google account data.

Cookies & local storage

We use browser local storage, not cookies, to keep you signed in, to remember preferences such as your language filter, and to hold the random device and session IDs and first-visit campaign tags described under "Usage data" above. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

Data retention & deletion

We keep your account data and contributions until you ask us to delete them. Usage data and error reports are kept only as long as they are useful for operating and improving the service. To request deletion of your account and all associated ratings, reviews, game scores, and usage data linked to your account, email youratestreams@gmail.com and we will process the request within 30 days.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
